General terms and conditions

In November 2007, the nonprofit organisation "Clio-online – Historisches Fachinformationssystem e.V."co-founded by renowned academic information providers, took over the sponsorship of the former DFG project Clio-online as its legal successor. The organisation also sees itself as the legal and organisational umbrella for the web portals, communication forums and projects such as Clio-online, H-Soz-Kult, Zeitgeschichte-online, geschichte.transnational or the web portal European History and Docupedia-Zeitgeschichte.

ZThe central purpose of the organisation is "the promotion of science, research and education through the development, provision and application of digital media and internet-based information services in the field of historical studies. These goals are to be achieved through the publication of original historical research results and research-relevant information on the internet, which is freely accessible worldwide", as has been successfully practised by H-Soz-Kult for many years. Clio-online operates publicly accessible, interactive internet portals for the historical sciences, which include various subject-related services, reference systems and information offers and which can be comprehensively used only by registered users. These services are based on the General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of Clio-online, which also apply to all associated subject portals, subject forums and projects, in particular also to H-Soz-Kult, Zeitgeschichte-online and geschichte.transnational.
