The call of light, of beauty and daring has brought us here today to this Assembly, to bestow upon us the joy of friendship, of inspiration and discovery, to elevate our thoughts and strivings more purely and boldly towards the world of the beautiful. The Universe has been created according to the laws of beauty, and it is according to the laws of beauty that mankind is called upon to live. The imperative of evolution, the inevitability of development, the necessity for perfection keep the fire of life forever burning. It burns up and destroys the old, clears the way for the new, elevates and in ascending the steps towards perfection asserts new forms of life that have more brightly embraced the light and exist in consonance and harmony with the whole – a flaming bird, a Phoenix, which rises from its own ashes again and again, more beautiful and fiery, striving towards the future.
Das Ziel des im Jahr 1975 der Stiftung Volkswagenwerk mit der Bitte um Förderung vorgelegten Forschungsprojekts (hinfort FP) war es, über Leistung, Entwicklungstendenzen und politische Funktion der Geschichtswissenschaft in allen Staaten und bei allen Völkern des östlichen, kommunistisch regierten Europa (mit Ausnahme der DDR) ein zuverlässiges aktuelles Bild zu gewinnen. Es sollte durch konzentrierte, jeweils nach Fertigstellung zu publizierende Forschungsbericht (hinfort FB) über einzelne, räumlich und zeitlich festgelegte Teilgebiete erreicht werden. Dementsprechend umfassend war der ursprüngliche Plan: Er sah bei einer Beschränkung auf die Entwicklung etwa seit Mitte der sechziger Jahre 31 solcher Forschungsberichte vor.
Der Ursprung meiner Familie ist unklar. Der Familienüberlieferung nach stammte sie vom montenegrinischen Stamm der Piperi, aber topographische und ethnographische Daten legen nahe, das sie sich von Stamm der Drobnjaci herleitete.[...]

Herr Präsident und lieber Freund, ich fühle mich gezwungen, Ihnen in kürzester Zeit zum zweiten Mal bezüglich des Themas der Republik von Skopje zu schreiben. Denn es ist für mich äußerst schwierig, meine Überraschung sowie Besorgnis über die Entwicklung, die diese Thematik annimmt, zu verbergen; insbesondere hinsichtlich der Beziehung zwischen unseren beiden Ländern. Bis jetzt konnte Griechenland über die Probleme, die durch die Republik von Skopje verursacht wurden, hinwegblicken. Denn die Politik Jugoslawiens – und Skopjes – gegenüber Griechenland wurde von der föderativen Regierung in Belgrad bestimmt. Die Existenz jedoch eines unabhängigen Staates, der den Namen Makedonien trägt, stellt Griechenland vor eine ganz neue Situation.
